Over the past few decades, Beckschafer has composed a large number of works for various voices and ensembles, has served as organist and choir director, and as a professor in music theory at the Hochschule fur Musik (Munchen, Nurnberg-Augsburg, Nurnberg). Among his considerable output for chorus are the 5 Passionsmotetten, based on standard responsories for Holy Week.
