Be Still

Description

Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass, Violin — Be still is a wonderful setting of Psalm 46:10: ‘Be still and know that I am God.’ The title is reflected in the music, which begins very quietly and a cappella. The violin then enters and heads towards a climax with the voices until they slowly become quieter together again. The piece is not long, but its subtleties and the solo violin part make it very impressive.It was commissioned for Crathie Kirk service in September 2024 and is dedicated to Their Majesties; King Charles III, Queen Camilla and the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay.
