Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass — Hailstork’s setting of Psalm 91 is an artistic expression featuring passages for Solo Soprano and Solo Baritone in relief to the many textures of the choir. While beautiful counterpoint permeates much of the work, the words “He is my refuge, my refuge and fortress” conspicuously recur in rock-solid block chords, representing the meaning of the Psalm.
