Description

Flute, Oboe, Clarinet in Bb, Horn in F, Bassoon — Perfect for pops concerts, SUITE NO. 3 provides a quaint time capsule of jazz-inspired classical music from 1939, soon after Gershwin’s death, and just before the hard-edged modern jazz of the 1940s. In this fast-slow-fast suite, “Take Five” refers only to relaxing for a few minutes (not the song composed decades later), and “B-Bop Major” is a musical pun that must have been added later.
