Alto Flute, Violoncello — A visit to Desert Hot Springs in California's Coachella Valley was the inspiration for Dorff's 9-minute Desert Dusk, scored for the strikingly rich duo of Alto Flute and Cello. The music begins by reveling in the Eden-like beauty and mimicking a distant mourning dove, interrupted by a dramatic windstorm which then gives way to the desert sunset.
