Trumpet in C, Horn in F, Trombone — Premiered by the Eastern Virginia Brass in April 2014 at the Virginia Arts Festival, Ghosts in Grey and Blue is a deep consideration of the cost of the Civil War 150 years before. Hornist Marlene Ford confessed, “Every time we went from the Fanfare movement to the Epilogue, I was tearful.
