Violin, Violoncello — The seven nocturnes of evensong describe the following series of events:In a rural setting, twilight approaches, and a family gathers together. While a gentle breeze wafts through an open window, all join voices in a hymn of thanksgiving and settle down to dinner. After the meal, the children go to bed, supported by a family lullaby. After gently wishing everyone a good night, the parents spend a little time viewing the tapestry of stars before retiring for the night themselves. EVENSONG is a tender 20-minute suite of seven connected scenes for violin and cello depicting a family evening at home.
