The composer says it best: "As a former cellist in my youth, have always loved the instrument, and have enjoyed writing for it. The work contains swirling arpeggiated gestures, a lilting compound meter and a real sense of expressivity, allowing the cello to sing with soaring lines and genuine lyricism."
