Trumpet in Bb, Piano — See the program notes (and publisher's note) on the second page. This formally-structured Sonata, commissioned by Rodney Marsalis, draws inspiration from the many sides of Hailstork's musical world. The composer has also added a string quartet or string orchestra option for the piano part, and made a clarinet version of the solo part.
