Description
Trumpet in Bb, Piano — The four movements of this Italian Suite have been chosen from thevocal works of Italian composers of the 17th and 18th centuries toinclude ariettas from dramatic works and solo songs of varied types. TheAllegro by Scarlatti is an arietta entitled “Spesso vibra per suo gioco.”The Allegretto by Caldara is an arietta entitled “Sebben, crudele.” TheAndante by De Luca is a song, “Non posso disperar,” and the finalmovement by Durante is a song entitled “Danza, Danza.”The compositions by Scarlatti and Caldara are essentially lyric andexpressive, requiring a sustained style and legato articulation. Thecompositions by De Luca and Durante require that particular attentionbe given to phrasing and articulation. Otherwise, phrases composed ofsmall groups of slurred notes may become isolated melodic fragmentsinstead of building a flowing melody
