Five Two Tango

Description

Violin 1, Violin 2 — Listening to Five Two Tango, you can't help but picture a grand tango choreography, performed by two danceers who are driven to unusal step sequences and dynamic figures by great rhythmic forces. It appears to begin in harmony, but slowly and steadily becomes a conflict, urgen on by an almost continuous 5/4 meter and ongoing pattern shifts. Two dancers pushing and pulling, holding on tight only to break apart again. It is only in the end that the two of them find a common rhythm: For the first time, the musical theme appears in even four-bar-segments. From here, there is a dynamic and rhythmic build-up to a grand finale.
