Piano — Samuel Zyman’s LATIN VARIATION ON “AMERICA, THE BEAUTIFUL” stands on its own as a powerful 3-page toccata. Composed for pianist Min Kwon’s colossal commissioning project from 2020 (with 82 composers contributing their own takes on the hymn), Zyman’s variation is ironically set in minor, with ostinato dance rhythms reflecting his Mexican heritage.
