Two Carols

Description

Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass, Piano — After performing Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols with her choir, choral director and composer Elinor A. Armsby was inspired to set one of the texts from this collection, “I Sing of a Maiden,” to a more hushed, lullaby-like melody. In addition, she wrote music for “Tidings True” to accompany the first song as a gift to her choir, a joyous and lively piece. Though conceived as a set, the two carols may be performed together or separately, in any order.
