Escaping the Sun

Description

A thrilling musical adventure of a suspenseful and dangerous escape from an erupting sun. After an ominous mighty opening in G minor, the mood shifts dramatically to expanding contrapuntal melodies and eventually to a peaceful and lyrical section in B-flat major. Agitato (restless), legato (smoothly), and pesante (ponderous) lines return in G minor to combine for the thrust needed as the flight finally pulls away from the turbulent sun. For musical excitement and contrasting styles, it just doesn't get any better than this! Escaping the Sun is written by Frank McKinney for concert band.
