Description

Bassoon, Piano — Contorni, written in 1970, comes from the experimental period of Pál Károlyi (1934-2015). 'Outlines, contours' suggests the title, and accordingly the duo of bassoon and piano experience different modes of sounding the instruments, often putting extreme contrasts side by side in tempo and dynamics. The work is dedicated to József Vajda and Zoltán Kontra.
