All repeats in the percussion interludes are optional; they can give your wind players a longer break or give you more time to announce the next song. Otherwise, just skip the repeats and take all second endings.This medley presents songs in the Department of Defense (DoD) Order of Precedence as outlined in DoD Directive 1005.8 (Order of Precedence of Members of Armed Forces of the United States When in Formations) and U.S. Army Regulation 220-90. Although this medley does present the songs in this prescribed order, it’s important to note that school and community bands are not required to follow DoD or Army regulations, and even military bands are permitted to change the order for special occasions.It’s highly encouraged to ask veterans and their family members to stand for their song! This updated Armed Services Medley honors the branches of the U.S. military with a collection of service songs, including the recently added Semper Supra (The Space Force Song). The medley allows for flexibility in its performance, with optional percussion interludes and variations in song order. The work offers a chance to honor veterans and their families, creating a patriotic and celebratory atmosphere for any concert.
