This band version was rescored in Eb major. Snowflake features long melody lines and rich sustaining harmonies. The main melody leads the music, along with other parts playing the inner melodies. Each phrase should be played espressivo throughout the piece. “Sing from the heart” is the most essential point of this piece. Imagine what a warm sound is for you. Originally written for string orchestra, Snowflake is now rescored for wind band and presents a beautiful, flowing melody that captures the delicate and fleeting nature of a snowflake.
