Description
Violin 1, Violin 2, Violin 3, Viola, Cello, Contrabass, Tambourine, Piano — A Shivaree (Charivari) is a North-American term for a clamorous celebration, given by friends and neighbors to a newlywed couple. The word “shivaree” also has a meaning in English folklore as “rough music,” where all sorts of banging and clanging were bestowed on “wrongdoers” in the community. This Shivaree is neither clamorous nor rough, but has an energetic, bluegrass feel that should be “fiddled” in a light and joyful manner. Shivaree is an energetic bluegrass/fiddlestyle piece from the pen of Carl Strommen. Rhythmically interesting, your students will be singing the tunes all day long! This piece is fun, festive and presents a different style of music to your students.
