Description
Flute — A curious child climbs up to the attic and discovers a jumble of boxes, trunks, old clothes, and dustyjunk. There, a black leather case catches her eye. She pries it open and finds inside an old flute—her grandmother’s from high school. Sitting on the floor, she picks up each part and manages toassemble the tarnished instrument. As she blows through it, the flute becomes alive with music. To herdelight, she discovers more and more treasures in the attic. Staccato rain plays on the roof just above as shelooks through her trove of riches, playing a new melody with each discovery. This set of short recital pieces, arranged by approximate order of difficulty, provides new repertoire andstudy material for the intermediate level flutist. Special attention is given to letting students experience awide variety of styles, keys, and imaginative settings, and helping them learn new phrasing, fingerings andarticulations. Based on the cinematic idea of a curious child climbing up to the attic and discovering a jumble of boxes, trunks, old clothes, and a long neglected instrument, this collection of short recital and study pieces evokes the spirit of musical discovery. Composed by John Walker, these new pieces are specially designed for the intermediate-level musician. Available for Violin, Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, and Trombone.
