The following 6/8 section at m. 31 suggests a bright and playful "new day."Attention to dynamics (particularly from the opening to m. 27 and from m. 82 to the end) and articulations is key to making The Awakening come to life. The Awakening begins with a gentle clarinet theme, gradually growing in intensity to represent the gradual transition from night to day. The early sections of the piece evoke a quiet morning, with the ensemble coming to life as the music shifts to a more playful and energetic 6/8 section. Attention to dynamics and articulation brings the awakening process to life, creating a vivid musical picture of a new day.
