Joyful World is an adaptation of the familiar Christmas carol Joy to the World.The piece opens with fragments of the familiar carol cleverly woven into a spirited fanfare. This is followed by a stirring version of the traditional carol. The second section features a regimental snare part and playful harmonies. In the third section, the composer changes the meter of the familiar hymn to create a beautiful 6/4 ballad. Following the ballad, the composer uses a snippet of the familiar Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee tune before returning to the original melody.
