Matheson juxtaposes ideas of yearning and resting within the text. The tension within the harmonies of this setting will linger through lengthy phrases, but repose is found in the end with meditative repetition, which represents the unknown of eternity.The dynamics are important. During the more aggressive passages, be careful tomaintain the discipline of centered intonation, and at the softer moments, remainresonant without allowing the tone to become breathy. There are some dissonantharmonies and unconventional progressions throughout which will be served well ifisolated early in the rehearsal process.
