Soprano, Alto, Bass, Piano — Be At Peacexa0takes its lyrics from Max Ehrmann's classic poem Desiderata, the title of which can roughly be translated from Latin as "needful things." The poem reads as a set of advice to a younger person on how to best live their life.This setting is appropriate for any time of the year, but perhaps especially at graduations, baptisms, confirmations, or any event signifying a life transition. My hope is that the simple voicing with minimal divisi allows the piece to work for varied-sized choirs and choirs of all ages. For SAB choirs of all sizes and abilities, Reid's writing is both accessible and lyric. Be at Peace, with text from Max Ehrmann's Desiderata, is the perfect programming piece for graduations, baptisms, confirmations, or any event signifying a life transition.
