It is particularly interesting both rhythmically and harmonically. The piece begins in the key of D minor with the melody harmonized and played forcefully. At measure 9 the violins repeat the melody followed by the viole and celli, canon-style, at measure 10. At measure 16 we modulate to the parallel key of D Major. Celli and basses enter establishing a harmonic pattern at measure 17. The first violins begin in measure 20 supported by the 2nd violins and viole. Begin this section quietly to make effective use of thexa0cresc. poco a poco.At measure 38 we repeat the melody from measure 20, this time with more activity in the accompaniment.
