(Clapping rhythms always helps.)xa0 Be aware of the short canon at m. 25 (explain). After listening to all types of music while growing up, I began my arranging ‘career’ in high school trying to put my own personal “spin” on songs sometimes to the chagrin of my band director!xa0 I attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA and received my BME at VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, IL.xa0 After graduation, I moved to Tampa, FL, where I taught strings, band,xa0 chorus and general music for 35 years.xa0 During this time, I did arranging for my own school groups, local amateur groups, all-county school orchestras as well as professional musicians and orchestras. I usually write for 3-part band and 3-part string orchestraxa0 grade .5/ 1 pieces and am currently enjoying “retirement” .I hope that your group has as much fun performing “Sailing Along” as I did composing it. Imagine sailing on the ocean with a gentle breeze, calm waves and a beautiful sky. "Sailing Along" captures the easy flowing motion of rolling waters using half notes, quarter notes and eighth notes with dynamic contrast and climactic accents. Teach beautiful phrasing across a full dynamic range while embodying the ebb and flow of rising and falling tides. A perfect piece to support range developments, with arcing phrases to carry players over high notes and through splashes of rhythm, Andrew Guarrine's "Sailing Along" is a breath of fresh air on the high seas.
