Description
Violin 1, Violin 2, Violin 3, Viola, Cello, Contrabass, Piano — Pizzicato Christmasxa0combines seven of everyone's favorite Christmas carols in an arrangement for the young string orchestra's first concert. The primary use of pizzicato playing is juxtaposed with some arco playing, which adds interest for both performers and listener. To embellish the arrangement, you can add sleigh bells playing quarter and/or eighth notes throughout, resting duringxa0God Rest Yr Merry Gentlemen and Angels We Have Heard on High. This is a great piece to use to add a new twist to a winter concert. You can elicit audience involvement and focus their listening by having the audience count the number of different carols they hear during the piece. You can then isolate the themes one by one and finally repeat the entire arrangement. This wonderful medley parades a Santa's bagful of familiar seasonal tunes (Jingle Bells, the Twelve Days of Christmas, Good King Wenceslas, Up on the Housetop, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Jolly Old St. Nicholas and Angels We Have Heard on High) designed to help young players become familiar with pizzicato playing. A flexible tempo, geared to playing ability, and the familiarity of the material will make Pizzicato Christmas easy to prepare and fun to play. Duration: 2'25"
