Voice 1, Voice 2, Piano, Djembe — With Viento!, I wanted to create an energetic, crowd-pleaser that's both fun to learn and fits well in multiple concert contexts. When my choir first premiered this piece, I quickly taught the audience how to follow the wind sounds we were performing in order to create a full, three-dimensional experience. We accomplished this by imitating opening and closing windows with our arms as the dynamics of the wind sounds increase and decrease. While this is just a suggestion, it really can add to the overall experience for performers and audience members alike.Additionally, the included percussion accompaniment is another optional tool that can assist choirs in taking the energy to the next level.I sincerely hope you and your choirs enjoy this inventive take on the power and excitement of the wind.
