Inaddition, I dedicate this to the Lindale ISD Band Program and their worldclassband directors, Taylor Bates, Melissa Fisher, Weston Fisher, CaseyJohnson, Susan Scott, and Jaylon Stewart. I had the great fortune of beinga band director in Lindale for seventeen of the best years of my career.In this selection, you will hear fragments of Lindale High School’s SchoolSong, "My Wild Irish Rose". I used the LHS School Song’s melody in thisselection in honor of Steven, who taught in Lindale 34 years. Throughoutthis piece, you will hear the keyboard percussion play “clock chimes”. Thissignifies a time for new adventures and horizons for Steven and the LindaleBand Program.This piece sounds nautical in nature to me, and in my imagination, I see thecaptain’s face set like a flint as he courageously presses on toward a newhorizon in difficult seas. The scene changes as he enjoys the beauty of hissurroundings in serene calm. He hears snippets of "My Wild Irish Rose" inhis memory, stirring a longing for home and then suddenly, the capriciousseas wake him from his daydream into the reality of his new adventure. "Voyager’s Passage" takes listeners on an emotional voyage—one that reflects both the joy of memory and the courage of moving forward. Fragments of "My Wild Irish Rose" are woven throughout, serving as a musical touchstone for reflection, nostalgia, and legacy. These melodic echoes are subtle at times, fleeting as memories, and at others bold and heartfelt, symbolizing the deep roots of tradition and the bonds of community.Keyboard percussion gently tolls like clock chimes, marking the passage of time and signaling a transition—a farewell to one chapter and the opening of another. Nautical in spirit, "Voyager’s Passage" evokes the image of a seasoned captain at the helm, his gaze fixed on a distant horizon. Though the sea may be uncertain, he steers ahead with confidence and resolve.Amidst turbulent swells, a sudden calm opens—still waters, quiet skies. Here, he breathes in the beauty around him, lost in recollection. Distant strains of "My Wild Irish Rose" drift through the air, stirring a longing for the familiar. But the wind rises once more, the sea demands attention, and the journey resumes—undaunted, full of hope, and rich with the promise of new adventures.
