Heinrich von Herzogenberg's music is attracting increasing attention. His piano works, which have been made accessible again for the first time, are worth discovering, especially as the new edition offers a representative cross-section of his extensive piano oeuvre. Herzogenberg dedicated the piano pieces in four sets with opus numbers 25, 37, 49 and 68 to prominent contemporaries such as Edvard Grieg and Theodor Kirchner. In addition to Romantic genre pieces (Notturno, Barcarole, Impromptu etc.), they also contain preludes, fugues and fughetti (op. 49) and the Twelve Little Studies op. 68 dedicated to Clara Schumann.
