(With some extra padding) Sousa was so enamored of Jerome Kern's tune that he arranged it for his band immediately after it became public. He included excerpts from There Is a Tavern in the Town to gently poke fun at Prohibition. His use of klangfarbenmelodie adds both humor and sophistication to this remarkable arrangement.
